Come to the Throne of God

I believe there is a reason God tells us to 'come to the throne of God.' and to 'renew your mind'. It is not for His own pleasure that we can recite a bible verse or tell others of His grace, it is for times like these, when tragedy strikes and brings you to your knees that grace and strength are your companion.

When tragedy struck my family a few weeks ago a good friend reminded me that God did not promise us an easy life. This angered me at the time because what I wanted was to be nurtured and loved (also very important) through my unspeakable grief. But what my friend reminded me of was the truth. God did not promise us an easy life, actually the bible tells us the opposite, that life will be full of trials and that we are wise to be prepared.

Not sure I was, or am, prepared for the pain I am experiencing, for there are some days I feel I may not come back from the chaos that are my thoughts. But what I do know is that God also promises to never leave us or forsake us and that He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. What that means is that His word, the Bible verses I read every day, the time I spend with God of a morning meditating, is for this very hour. At my lowest of low I am to draw on these truths and know that He will not only sustain me, He will prosper and grow me. That my 'chaos' will lessen with time and that with His strength I can endure.

This does not mean that I am not a blubbering mess most days (for blubbering mess is one of my specialties), or angry every other day, or that I do not need the love and support of friends and family, but what it does mean is that I am trusting my God will come through for me, as promised, in my hour of need.
