'Fearfully and wonderfully made.' Psalm 139:14
A few weeks ago I was told I had a "good one" - a husband that is, "blessed to have such a good one" she said, and it's true, he is amazing. But at the root of this comment came a lie that struck me at my core, a seed that had been planted throughout my lineage and allowed to mature throughout the generations. A seed planted many years ago that I had allowed to germinate and grow. A lie that I was somehow less than, not worthy of his love. Having believed it for so long I had allowed it to become a part of my DNA, and even now, knowing my identity in Christ, it still pierces my heart.
This person didn't know the impact of her comment and nor should she, it wasn’t her intent to hurt me, what she spoke was the truth, he is amazing. So amazing that it's hard to keep up, but what God continues to remind me is that I don't need to 'keep up'. That He joined us together for a reason and all I need 'be' is be the best version of me that I can be. That I am more than enough in Him. God does not discriminate, the Christ that died for my husband is the same Christ that died for me. He's the same God that knew me before I was born, knitted me in my mother's womb for a specific plan and purpose that only I can fulfil.
So, when I am again reminded of how wonderful my husband is - and he is - and that lie once again raises its ugly head, I have confidence to remind the enemy that I am a daughter of the most high God and will not be held back by a lie. I will remind the enemy, and anyone who cares to listen, of the truth, that I am who God made me to be and worthy of Gods love, and my husbands.
So next time something is spoken over you that pierces your heart to the negative, ask yourself, is it of God? Is it how God sees me or am I believing a lie? A lie determined to hold me, and future generations back from all that God would have for us, our purposed destiny in Him?
